SuDS & Landscaping Case Study

Project: Delawyk Crescent
Client: London Borough of Southwark
Service: Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS)

Loughman successfully transformed underutilised paved areas within Delawyk Crescent, London Borough of Southwark, into vital sustainable drainage features and green spaces. As the contracted partner, our primary objective was to implement effective SUDS solutions, removing existing paving to create new garden areas, and crucially, constructing a functional rain garden designed to efficiently manage stormwater runoff.

Loughman’s team brought significant SUDS expertise, ensuring the rain garden was designed and built to best practices for effective stormwater management. Our role also involved close community liaison to minimise disruption, and flexible design adaptation, demonstrating our commitment to client collaboration and problem-solving. The project successfully enhanced neighbourhood aesthetics with new green spaces, significantly improved stormwater management through the rain garden and its watercourse, and boosted pedestrian safety by eliminating trip hazards and installing permeable surfaces. Our active community engagement further fostered local ownership and pride in these environmental improvements.
