The comprehensive scope of works included the installation of a new pumped foul water drainage system, modified rainwater drainage, and the introduction of new below-ground drainage infrastructure. All civils works, trenching, and level changes were executed with utmost care. A paramount consideration throughout the project was maintaining profound respect for the cemetery’s ongoing functions; Loughman implemented a strict pre-notification system for all funerals, ensuring our staff halted operations and were out of sight to prevent any disruption to services. Furthermore, we meticulously managed pedestrian flow with appropriate signage and safety barriers, strategically diverting visitors around work zones, including a sensitive memorial garden. This ongoing project, currently ahead of schedule, demonstrates Loughman’s exceptional capability in delivering vital infrastructure improvements within a challenging, live heritage environment, executed with unparalleled sensitivity and precision to safeguard a national landmark.
