Our comprehensive scope involved carefully retaining the existing York Stone paving while replacing the old, cracked bonded granular surface with SuDS-compliant Resin Bound Gravel, ensuring both visual appeal and sustainable drainage. The hard-surfaced area was expertly extended in a sweeping ‘curve/arc’ to the west, defined by new railings, hedging, shrub beds, and planters. Loughman meticulously installed a double row of reclaimed square granite setts as edging, sourced directly from Kensington & Chelsea Council, reflecting attention to detail and local character. Further enhancements included replacing the central London Plane tree’s circular metal seat with a new timber alternative, removing a thick stone wall to make way for new planting, and strategically locating timber bollards to prevent unauthorised parking. Additionally, existing fencing was replaced with new steel railings, and three glass panels were removed to open up the space. This project demonstrates Loughman’s expertise in delivering high-quality, sensitive public realm transformations that blend modern functionality with existing urban aesthetics.
