Public Realm Case Study

Project: Dartford Town Centre Regeneration- Phase 1A: Public Realm Revitalisation
Client: Dartford Borough Council
Service: Public Realm Transformation with Natural Stone Paving and Infrastructure Upgrades in a Live Town Centre Environment

As Principal Contractor for the Dartford Town Centre Regeneration Project, Loughman spearheaded the revitalisation of the high street and public spaces, transforming them into a pedestrian-friendly and visually appealing environment. Our comprehensive scope of works under the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract (Option A) focused on significant public realm upgrades.

This included the expert installation of high-quality natural stone footways and paving, the creation of new landscaped areas with raised planters and greenery, and the strategic placement of modern street furniture like benches and public seating to enhance amenity and aesthetics. We also managed the upgrade of essential infrastructure, including new drainage and a discreet Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) bollard system. Loughman meticulously maintained public access through a phased work strategy, ensured continuous communication with local businesses via a dedicated Public Liaison Officer, and upheld stringent health and safety protocols throughout. The project’s successful, on-time, and within-budget delivery resulted in a significantly enhanced public space, improving the environment for residents, businesses, and visitors, and showcasing our collaborative success in complex urban regeneration.
